Take your time, spend sufficient time on any mattress you are considering. Consider all technologies. There may be something out there you haven't tried that may help your problem. Depending on your sleep position, please do not exclude "padding", as that can ultimately make a good mattress great. To me, your problem is with the support core, and when you flipped the mattress you were laying on a latex mattress with no padding, apparently that didn't work. The rods immobilize certain parts of your back, and as a result you really need a mattress that will conform to your body. Memory Foam seems to not do the trick for you. That leaves water or air as a consideration. Air is lighter, and will conform well to your body, as long as the number is right. There are several manufacturers, the 2 largest are Sleep Number and Comfortaire. You can't spit with out hitting a Sleep Number store, why not try them? But spend time on the bed. If you are in the Eastern Missouri area, our store features a wide selection of Comfortaire, which we believe to be the better value in air. For what your looking to help, even try springs, but please be careful, make sure it has a high coil count, perhaps higher than 400. Take a friend or significant other with you that can judge your posture on the bed, you should be in the same posture as if you were standing straight, that is the only way you can minimize the stress on those rods.

My guess is your memory foam softened over time, which is normal. Other possibilities would be surrounding the rods, might want to contact the doctor to see if they can move. But POSTURE is key... With posture you will find more comfort, and less pulling on the rods.

I have also heard of flipping a "no flip" mattress and it working well. Two more options to try. The first is a "cooling" mattress pad. Just check on Amazon for "cooling mattress pad" . Some work very well. The extreme would be a "Chili Pad". google it. We sell them also. Your situation is unique but NOT impossible to overcome.

The problem you have is the rods. These make your body different from other people. Might I suggest Air Technology? It is cheaper than Tempurpedic, lasts longer, and is adjustable. If you like the feel of Memory Foam, you can have that too on an Air Tech bed. Our store sells Comfortaire products and they include all sorts of materials over the Air Tech, from nothing to Latex, to Memory Foam, to Gel infused Memory Foam.

You need to relieve pressure to be comfortable, and over time you needs will change in what you need in a bed surface. Air Tech is the only product out there that will change when you need it to. The modular design of the better manufactures also allow you to replace components as they wear, avoiding buying a new bed as often. And it can go on your current adjustable base, there is no need to replace that.

Hi Debra, Before going to that expense, flip your Tempurpedic over. The underside is firmer and sleeps much cooler.
