“Bad Value”

  • Comfort: Slightly too soft
  • Support: Poor
  • Durability: Way worse
  • Pressure relief: Poor
  • Temperature: Don't know
Pros:
Initial Comfort.
Cons:
Long-Term Comfort, Price, Surface Integrity.

the first 2 years it was comfortable - we had the previous mattress over 15 years so it was great. Now as my husband says it is like sleeping in a taco... it is okay if there is only one of us in bed, but when he is in bed with me it is like sleeping on a side of a hill. would never buy something from this manufacturer again. It was not a cheap mattress- would have better off buying a mattress from Walmart

“Worst buy of our lives”

Pros:
The ONLY good thing, it fit up our stairs, though in hindsight we'd have been better off if it hadn't.
Cons:
Uncomfortable; lumpy; hot. Was supposed to be maximum support and very firm, but is not and caused much back pain.
  • Purchased in Apr 2006

After less than one year there was a noticeable bump in the middle of the bed, and deep body impressions on both sides. We turned it often and that made no difference. In addition to the horrible lack of comfort, it is also hot to sleep on. We have had to stick out this bad purchase because we cannot afford a new one, it was not an inexpensive bed. On the contrary, it was fairly pricey. We hate it, hate it, hate it. Would NEVER buy another bed from this manufacturer or from Mattress Mart, who provided no customer service when we complained early on. Who needs a warranty? when it excludes nearly every possible defect short of spontaneous combustion.

Sags~Restless Sleep~Keeping Our Chiropractor in Business!

We bought this bed a year and a half ago after sleeping on a Sealy for more than 8 years~~should've saved our money and kept the old bed! Within 6 months of purchasing this set, it sags where my husband and I sleep which causes a bump in the middle of the bed~~we "flipped" it regularly(end to end) as the top is the only part that is memory foam. We were not getting restful sleep at all and we both increased our visits to our chiropractor to try to adjust to it. To no avail, it's impossible to get a good nights sleep when your head and feet are at different heights due to the sagging! It has gotten so bad that we finally gave up and flipped it completely over(yes, now the fancy cashmere/memory foam top is facing the box springs and we put a Brookstone Bio-Sense Bed Topper on what is the bottom of the mattress to regain some sort of support. We spent a great deal of money on this bed and I will NEVER purchase from Spring Air again! The only thing saving it at this point is the topper. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS BED!!

Pros:
The first 6 months is the only time this mattress is good
Cons:
Sagging, hurts back and 2 people cannot sleep in the bed due to the sagging

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MATTRESS! After 6 months the mattress begins to sag and Spring Air gives you the run arounds over the warranty of the mattress. There is a 2 inch sag and my husband and I have to put pillows between us to keep from rolling on top of one another because mattress sags so bad. Worst purchase we have ever made.

Pros:
Attractive
Cons:
Price, Durability, Warranty
  • Purchased in Aug 2011

We purchased our Spring Air mattress in Jan. 2011, in June I had to call the warranty department of the store to have someone come out to look at the bed. It started sagging where my husband and I sleep. After several phone calls and several weeks of waiting, someone finally came. He took some crappy measurments and pictures and told me someone would call. OKAY, not so much. I had to call them repeatedly and finally got the district manager. Don’t get me wrong he was nice and all, but said that 1” of sagging in the first year is normal and “did you flip it regularly?”. I couldn’t flip it because it only had padding on one side!! So, no I didn’t. They weren’t going to replace it because of that. So, after lots of arguing my point and telling them their method of measuring was ridiculous, they finally agreed to replace it. So I got the replacement at the end of August 2011. This August, 1 year later, I’m repeating myself. Sagging where we sleep, and only 1 end of the bed is sinking so when you lie down with the bed one direction you sink, if you rotate head to feet, your feet are lower than your shoulders creating a serious low back arch. And we did “flip” this bed every 4 weeks like clockwork. Several calls to the warranty department, several weeks of waiting for someone to come. He just came today and their method of measuring has gotten a little better (I think), at least he was willing to talk to me about what problems I was having and where exactly it was giving us issues. So, I’m hoping to hear in the next week or so. I’m arguing for a refund this time. I’m DONE with Spring Air! Do some hard research before deciding to purchase a Spring Air product and try to research the warranty department of the store you are buying from.

Pros:
durable, comfortable, silent, soft, good quality and reasonable price
Cons:
no negative experience with the mattress

I was surprised to read the type of problems the buyers are experiencing. i bought mine, a queen size in 1987, the name on it is" Spring Air, Unipedic 676 Coil, exclusive maker of back supporter mattress" beside sleeping, i often sit on the bed to watch tv and surf the net. recently, upon buying a new bedroom set, i intended to replace the mattress set. After 25 years of use,I inspected the mattress and it is still like new; no signs of damage and completely silent. no need to buy a new one and i am still using it. This mattress has no competition and i am recommending it to all.

“Horrible Mattress”

Pros:
Has the traditional mattress quilted top
Cons:
The foam structure fails after 2 years Not worth the money spent

We bought this mattress on sale as a tempurpedic alternative, with the traditional bed look and feel. The first month was great, it gave the support needed and we slept like babies! We rotated the mattress as needed, and as it started losing support, we even flipped it over, and even went to the extent of adding a mattress topper. The mattress was placed on a platform, so there was no excuse as to why it would cave in. The middle has sunk in so bad, that the outer edges are firm, but where we sleep is one big valley. My husband is a larger guy, so his weight causes the mattress to sink to his side, which I roll into him, and we both wake up with the worst back pain. I had high expectations for the price we paid, and luckily for the store owner, he closed the store in Greenville where we purchased the mattress, so there were no returns.

As for contacting the manufacturer, we had no luck with any alternatives. We were told to send an email to the guy who handles the complaints. He would look it over and decide if it was worth looking into. We found out that the owner of the Greenville store owned the company in Cleveland, who gave us a fairy tale option of having us exchange the mattress for an in-store credit toward another mattress. He never contacted us once he sent employees to our home to gather information on the mattress.

Buyers BE WARE. This mattress is not worth the price, or the aches and pains in the morning. If you are going to buy a memory foam mattress, do the research. If you want a great return policy, I have read where Walmart is your place to shop! Other than that, buy from a reputable retailer, which we learned this time, and spend the money on a QUALITY mattress.

Pros:
Was comfortable for a year.
Cons:
This Mattress had a dip in the middle only one year after purchase.

I am so disappointed with this mattress and could kick myself for wasting my money.  I will never again buy a pillow top mattress from Spring Air or from any other mattress manufacturer.    The fact that I had spent  so much money a product and it only lasts for about a year  is just troublesome and the Spring Air company should be ashamed.     If you can't find a way to make your product worth every dime your customers pay for it - it should be taken off of the market.

“Worst Mattress- DO NOT BUY”

Pros:
NONE 1 star rating because there is no negative star rating available
Cons:
Poor Quality. Bed Leans on all 4 sides. Causes Severe Neck, back, shoulder and hip pain

We have only had a negative experience with the King Size Euro top Four Season Back Supporter Mattress manufactured by Spring Air and purchased from Schewel’s Department Store in Roanoke, VA. We purchased this bed because our old mattress was 12 years old and the mattress cover was beginning to rip.
We purchased this mattress on October 20, 2011. It was delivered to our home on October 26. After waking up the very next day, we knew we had a lemon. Our first night’s sleep resulted in me not resting due to shoulder and neck pain. My husband’s back and shoulder were sore and he had a mild headache. On October 28, I went back to the store and spoke with the salesman and told him this bed was not working for us. I indicated to him that all four sides sagged and leaned in when we put our body weight on the bed. I also told him that our head was always lowered than the rest of our bodies. The middle of the bed was like a hump in the center. The bed simply felt as if there was no support around the sides at all. He told me to try the bed out a few more days…. Well after a few more sleepless and painful nights as well as sleeping on six pillows, our sleep was no better and we were always leaning on the side and edges.
On October 31, we were directed to the assistant store manager, who set up time for a store representative to do field measurements and testing of the mattress on Nov. 1. The representative simply said the bed was set up correctly and the height measured in tolerance. I kept telling him that was not the issue the issue is that the bed, when you apply pressure on the side or head of the bed leans and sags resulting in awkward head, neck and back positioning. He then called the local Spring Air Representative who was able to come by that same night. Spring Air basically did the exact test, would not lay on the edge of the bed to verify my complaint. He basically told me that all measurements were within guidelines and that they do not warranty comfort. Neither field representative would lie on the side of the bed; they would only lie in the center. Even though I said several times that the head and sides of the bed sags and leans.
After only 7 days of ownership, I am personally in so much pain... my legs, hips, lower back, neck and shoulder ache. I have purchased several; pillows to elevate my head, however even with all of the pillows the head still sags. The center of the bed sits high and looks like a mini mountain and when the bed is made up it looks lumpy and uneven because of the rows on the pillow top.
I sincerely hate this bed and only wish that I had read reviews and did a better job at evaluating this product. However, it is difficult to lay on an in-store bed but get a totally different bed that has poor workmanship and be told you must accept it “as is” even if you indicate the problem within 7 days of ownership. It simply seems like false advertisement because the bed I purchased feels or sleeps nothing like the store floor model. I even went back to the store and laid on the floor sample for 30 minutes. My bed is just not the same bed as the one in the store and neither Spring Air nor Shewels will even consider that possibility. They are only saying that the bed is an as is bed and they don’t warranty comfort I keep telling them it is poor workmanship, quality and manufacture that is directly impacting comfort! Spring Air's warranty leaves everything up to their sole discretion as to honoring an exchange or refund. Needless to say they are doing neither to help me!
The irony is that my sales person told me that I could return the bed if it didn't work out. Because I had not purchased a mattress in 12 years and didn't have any problems with my old purchase, I didn't think it would be an issue. . This bed is the worst and I would never ever recommend this product or the store that we purchased the product from in Roanoke, VA.

“Worst mattress we ever owned”

Pros:
As touted for 48-60 months
Cons:
After 5 years, mattress collapsing along both sides. Repair must be shipped to Texas from Florida at our expense.

Sides broke down after five years so that we can only sleep in middle of bed.

We paid $3500 plus tax for this as it was touted as the best thing going. The store, Robb and Stuckey chain declared bankruptcy and closed a few months ago.

I would never buy another one of these overpriced, over hyped , Low Quality mattresses.

Pros:
First year was like sleeping on a cloud, that's it, one year for 4k
Cons:
By year 3, the sagging caused extreme back issues. The cost is extreme.

We finally decided to get a top of the line mattress since you spend 1/3 of life on it. Sleepy's salesman really pushed this one as top of the line. We moved away from Sterns & Foster at the recommendation of this salesman.
What a mistake, we bought a new S&F yesterday to replace this 4 year old body abuser.
They came up with many excuses not to warranty, too many to name.
It cost Sleepy's and C&W my future business.

Pros:
Was comfortable for the first five years.
Cons:
Pillow top broke down. After nine years no support. and traps you. Difficult to turn and get out of bed.

Loved the bed at first but has not held up considering it's $3600 price tax. At nine years the foam is so broken there is no support and getting out of bed seems like climbing out of a deep hole. We decided it would be better to by a good bed from a wholesale warehouse at 1/6 the price and get a new bed every couple of years. We would come out ahead.
We are removing the pillow top and adding a gel topper. The springs are still very good. Store told us the Warranty was not valid since the company is now owned by someone different than when we bought the bed.

“2K for 2 months of quality”

Pros:
Best 2 months of sleep I've had. My ratings are based on time after the first 2 months.
Cons:
It took 3 months for a permanent 2 inch gully to form.

Purchased the Nature's Rest from Sleepy's for ~2K. It had a high rating for being hypoallergenic. My wife and I noticed saging within the first 2 months (my wife and I's combined weight is 325 lbs.). By around the 3 month mark, it had 2+ inch depressions. Replaced it for an 'equal or greater' value product (+ shipping and handling and Sleepy's doesn't give you the replacement boxspring [which voids the warranty on the new matress]). The Stern's and Foster Landmark Select took almost a year to form 1+ inch depressions. The salesman swore that this mattress would stand up. And it did, for an additional 9 months. Bed manufacturers really need to be held accountable for all of the sub-par products on the market; the retailers really need to get rid of commissions and not lie to their customers.

Cons:
Very bad customer service and Chattam did not stand by their product warranty.

I finally decided to purchase an expensive bed/mattress. I decided to go with Chattam & Wells~ Sadly after having the bed for less than a year I noticed defects~ contacted a rep for Chattam and Wells as there is a 10 year warranty. I was told that they would not honor the warranty and in fact made it null & void as the rep stated that there was a spot on the mattress! The mattress has no spots or discoloration, however, I could not get any cooperation from Chattam~ Very disappointed and I feel like I wasted 4,288.49 (with sales tax)!

Lumpy, deep sagging. worthless 20 year warranty

Terrible bed. Worthless 20 year warranty. After 6 months the "independent" warranty person came to inspect the bed. Well,
not bad enough. Came again 2 days ago and agreed it even looked worse. Well, not worse enough. This mattress set is useless. It will be going into the land fill and I will never buy from
this company or their selling company RC Willey again. No one seems to want to stand up to their poor products. If you like to sleep in a ditch with a mountainous ridge between you and the ditch on the other side of the bed, this is the one for you.

My bf and I had to get another bed because it caved in so bad. We'd wake up tense from trying not to fall into the middle and squish each other, especially during the hot summer months when you don't want to touch. It caved in SO BAD, not even funny, you can even see it.

Pros:
mattress forms to the curves of your body for a comfortable sleep hypo-allergenic, mildew proof eco responsible product
Cons:
Price was a bit high, but definately worth the money compared to sleeping on a cheap mattress

For years i've had sleep problems. I even went to the doctor for it. I knew that some of the problem was probably contributed to the fact I was sleeping on a $150 mattress that was 10 years old. I've always wanted to get a new top of the line mattress, but its one of those things that I was hesitant about spending alot of money on. I had always assumed that there wouldn't be a big difference in sleep from a $200 mattress to a $2000 mattress, but boy was I wrong!

I started shopping around for mattresses in the higher price range. I looked at the sealy posturepedic mattress, and some Serta Mattresses but I ended up going with the Nature's Rest Progeny series mattress. It all came down to comfort + price. I went into a few stores and laid on some of the mattresses and WOW what a difference I could feel from my 10 year old cheap mattress! I knew right away that I needed to get a quality mattress from one of these good brands. I know now a Mattress is an investment, its an investment in your quality of life (better sleep equals healthier me). So basically I had narrowed it down to the Sealy, Serta or Natures Rest. I found there wasnt much of a difference in comfort between the 3 of them, but the Nature's rest did feel a bit better than the other two. It formed to my body nicely. And the price was in line with the Sealy and Serta. So I bought the Natures Rest mattress the next day at Cardi's Furniture. Its been a week now and let me tell you, I feel like a whole new person! If your someone that has sleep problems dont waste your time and money on the cheap stuff, i'm normally a penny pincher, but a mattress is an investment in your health and well being, and I would recommend to anyone to go with the Nature's Rest products! They make a good quality mattress and their customer service is great (I called them inquiring about warranty, product info, etc). All in all, i'm a very Happy customer!

“Worst. Bed. Ever.”

Pros:
What do I like most about this mattress? I suppose it's concave shape, might be good for skateboarding in.
Cons:
Looks like a halfpipe. Sleeps like a bed of nails.

I bought this mattress, brand new, in February of 2009. It is now October of 2010, and I have spent the last year sleeping in total and complete pain.

I finally have some money put together to buy a new mattress, and I'm pretty confident that ANYTHING will be better than this mattress.

I wish I could upload pictures of it, it's funny in a sad sort of way. I showed my girlfriend and she just died laughing. The bed has sag in the middle that might be anywhere from 4-6 inches below the edges of the bed. I feel like I'm sleeping on the side of a mountain, so sadly, I've been sleeping on the couch for the last month instead of my not-even-2-year-old mattress.

If someone offered me another mattress by this company, for FREE, I would run in the other direction.

Seriously, when they named this thing "Back Supporter - Rhapsody", were they on drugs? I get more support from my kitchen floor and "Rhapsody"? What? Rhapsody of Pain is more like it.

Do not make the same mistake I did. Your back will thank you for it.

We found this latex, all natural mattress from Spring Air and have been in heaven. It is made from a rubber tree plant in Indonesia, has NO springs, is allergen free and a 20 year guarantee. We are now spoiled by hour nights or heavenly sleep. I was a little skeptical about going latex, but we LOVE it.

Pros:
Super plush top is extremely comfortable. Movement (i.e. when my partner turns over or gets up) doesn't transfer to my side at all - so sleep isn't interrupted.
Cons:
The mattress is really thick - 18". So, it's hard to find high quality fitted sheets that actually fit well. Best sheets I've found are the "Perfect Fit" sheets by Sealy.

We bought this California King mattress back in February of 07, and it's still perfect.
