“Love the bed, but strong chemical sell”

  • Comfort

Pros:
Comfortable Supportive
Cons:
Overwhelming chemical odor Much harder than the store model (even after 3 months)

Overall my husband and I are pleased with the mattress however it is a lot harder than the one in the store. We were assured that it would soften up, but it has been three months and has hardly changed.

I would also agree with the other reviewer that when the mattress was first delivered the smell of chemicals was overwhelming. I could not even go into the bedroom without being knocked over by the fumes from it. I refused to sleep on it until we aired it out, but we live in a condo downtown with no balcony this was really a big problem. I finally drug the mattress out onto the shared public terrace of the condo building to sit in the sun for two days. After we brought it back in it still smelled so bad I wrapped it in two mattress pads to try to cover the smell up. I still couldn't sleep on it without waking up in the middle of the night with my eyes and throat burning. I ended up sleeping in the other bedroom for about a month until the chemical smell dissipated enough for me to stand it. Amazingly enough though, my husband couldn't smell it at all and thought I was crazy. I really believe people have different abilities to smell like they do to with vision and it depends how sensitive your nose is. Nevertheless, I wish Serta would do something about the smell before shipping the mattresses out to the warehouse. It seems like an easy enough problem to fix and the repercussions to sales and possible health risks enough of an incentive.

“Not So Soft”

Pros:
Good Warrantee
Cons:
Very Firm

If you don't weigh 200lbs the bed will feel like a brick, I slept on this bed for almost three monthes and experienced pain every night. When I stood on the bed it appears extreemly soft because all my weight is in one spot. But when by weight is distributed across the bed it is too firm.

Hopefully it won't be $1100 down the drain and Serta or 1-800-Mattress will honor their pro-rated 10 yr. guarantee. this bed is all style, no substance. Like the other reviewers said, sure felt great in the showroom, but absolutely no support after a few months. We wake up with back pain regularly, not feeling ANY bounceback when we hit the hard part under the soft sagging
top. Would rate this ZERO stars, but we were both taken with the mattress top fabric design, the only thing going for this POS bed.

“Worst mattress I ever bought!!”

Pros:
Was comfortable for about a year...
Cons:
Sags terribly - the most I ever paid for a mattress - a big waste of money.

Was comfortable for about a year, then it began to sag terribly. I can't sleep on my stomach with this mattress because there is not enough support in the middle anymore. The memory foam has completely collapsed under my hips, and I constantly have an ache in my side when I get out of bed. The sag is not noticeable when you look at the bed, but when you lay down, your hips sink almost five inches into the bed! We're already looking to replace this mattress after only four years of use. Bad purchase!!

Pros:

Cons:
big hump in middle, sides sag. You will never get a warrentee honered by serta.

After only 3 months our new serta mattress began to sag under us. the resulting hump in the middle can be seen 50ft away! Serta "inspector" comes out to inspect, but instead of using a straight edge level to measure the sag, he lays a string over the hump and finds no defect. I could lay a string over my dog and by serta"s standards he's not there. If you see the string come out, you know you're not going to get justice!

“Bad,bad,bad!”

Pros:
You dont over heat on this bed
Cons:
Very bad customer sevice, bed is very uncomfortable, and sells people give very little useful information.

After sleeping on the bed for 3 nights I was ready to return it no one ever told us about the "air cells" in the mattress the bed was rock hard! I called in and the rep said I needed to "walk" on the the bed to break it in or have my kids jump on it. After a few months of dealing with this super hard bed I called in and had a Serta rep fly out and check the bed he said there was a black pen mark on the underside on the mattress so they would not check for defects in the bed untill we had it cleaned so needless to say I dont have the time to fight we Serta over this very over price uncomfortable bed so I stuck with it. I would not recomend this bed to any one.

“Cheated on the real-life sizing.”

  • Comfort
  • Support
  • Durability
  • Value
Pros:
Unsure yet.
Cons:
Real-life size is not correct.

The mattress was just delivered today.  February 22, 2012.

The noxious smell is overwhelming.  I hope it goes away.  I am glad we have some mild February days because I have windows open creating a cross-ventilation.  Can't imagine putting it in a room with only one window because of the odor.  It irritates my throat.

I purchased the Twin XL adjustable "Revolution" model.

The sleeping surface seemed narrower than it should be, 38".   It is actually 36" wide, 2" less than it should be.  And instead of 80" long, it is 78" long, 2" less than it should be.

Perhaps the mattress narrows at the top for structural support.

But in that case, it should start with a wider base, so that the top will be a full 38" wide.

Unfortunately the store, very reputable, did not have the Twin XL model on the floor so that I could find this out ahead of time.

The massage option is a joke, very noisy and vibrates the floor.  I asked for a no massage option - not available.  So I paid for the massage option because I had no choice.

They do not offer a full size in adjustable beds, which I wanted.  Only Twin XL, Queen, King.

Be careful when buying the adjustable model.

You can return the mattress, but not the base, which costs more than the mattress.

Time will tell with the comfort, and the noxious odor.

But immediately, I feel cheated on the size.

“How this Company Ripped Me Off!”

Pros:
Learnt a hard lesson!
Cons:
Beware of the Warranty!

We bought a King Size Serta Trump Mattress and within 14 months it had an inch and three quarter  body impression! My husband and I are neither obese people. We did not qualify under the warranty for a replacement mattress because of the fact that I cut off  all the excess tags on the boxspring; they were a nuisance to look at. What a mistake that was!  So I will not be dealing with this corrupt company ever again! I thought a receipt was all you needed!

“Noxious Fume Sleeping!”

Pros:
Comfortable, no motion sensitivity when my husband turns over
Cons:
Noxious odor that would not go away

My husband and I purchased our first foam mattress, excited about the comfort and lack of motion sensitivity. Upon delivery of our Serta iComfort Insight, we noticed a noxious odor once the plastic came off the mattress. We were told by the delivery men that it would go away by nightfall. . . Well, it did not, and we spent every day airing the room (in cold weather), washing the sheets, walking on the mattress to release the odor, and, to no avail. I have a sensitivity to chemicals, so I was taking precautions with my meds every night before going to bed. When I spoke with the Serta rep he said that they recommend leaving the mattress in an open airy space for 2 to 3 weeks before sleeping on it. . . Hm, no one in the store told us that! When asked what chemicals were in the mattress, he said it was proprietary info. After telling him I would make a video for utube demonstrating the processs needed to sleep on the mattress, he put me on hold and then came back with some info - boric acid, which, according to him, is also in apples that we eat every day - so safe! Does he realize that it is also in rat poison? . . . We continued to vent the room, wash the sheets, and use our ionic air purifier for a month. I kept waking with a clogged head, sinus drippage, and then I started getting leg cramps in the middle of the night. Our retailer took the mattress back after a month, and we exchanged it for a Simmons foam mattress, which we were assured did not have an odor. . . It does. It's going back.

“Pathetic icomfort Prodigy mattress”

Pros:
Great for 1st week
Cons:
Plush to mush in 5 weeks

The Prodigy mattress is pathetic! I weigh 260 pounds and in 5 weeks my Prodigy Queen turned into mush! In the store and for the first week it was wonderful. My back loved it! I changed sides every 2-3 days to equalize wear but it still turned into mush in 5 weeks. This bed now sleeps like a hammock. If I sit on the edge of the bed it collapses to 1/3 of the normal thickness. How's that for support? Getting out of bed in the morning is a chore. It's like crawling out of a hole! DO NOT BUY THE ICOMFORT PRODIGY IF YOU WEIGH OVER 100-125 POUNDS! My dealer is going to replace it with the Genius (firmest icomfort they make) under the 120 day replacement plan. Serta is being cute and is going to allow me the sale price on the Prodigy and charge me full retail on the Genius, effectively picking my pocket for $225. So much for the the 120 day replacement plan!

Apparently all memory foam mattresses soften with use so it is wise to buy firmer than you think is necessary.

We'd welcome the chance to speak directly with you to see if, perhaps, the specific model was too soft for you and to understand your shopping experience versus your in-home experience with the Prodigy. Pros:
Wonderful, both a plush and a firm side.
Cons:
The Plush and the firm side could be a negative for a couple both of they both prefer one side.

I love this mattress set! I work on my feet all day, and used to get up and and my feet and back would hurt and be stiff for several minutes. That changed the first night sleeping on this bed! I was unsure about the two different comfort sides, but find that i like having the option and use both sides as needed. Have had it for almost a year, no problems or issues.

Pros:
Since I have this bed I sleep through the night and no more pain.
Cons:
Have not found one yet

I have three autoimmune disease that can be painful. I love this bed and cannot imagine sleeping on anything else. I am in pain all the time and at 50 that is tough. I would wake up several times a night with leg cramps, back and hip pain, but now I have slept every night for two weeks through the night . No more waking up in pain. This bed has given me the chance to rest and be pain free which will help my body heal.

“10-Year NON Warranty”

  • Comfort
  • Support
  • Durability
  • Value
Pros:
They delivered the bed on time.
Cons:
1) Bed is lumpy & uncomfortable. 2) Serta warranty "inspection" is a hoax.

So it turns out my comfy new Serta mattress was only comfortable for two years, and has gradually been getting less and less comfortable.

No problem, I paid big bucks for the 10-year warranty, right?

Wrong. The warranty "inspection" doesn't test for the things that make a mattress servicable; ie, it doesn't test for comfort. The "inspection" seems like a sham to abet their denial of any warranty claim.

My advice: Find a different mattress company.

Pros:
The mattress looks good.
Cons:
The Mattress sinks when you lay on it. Gives no support at all.

I purchased what I was told was the top of the line Serta memory foam mattress. I had wanted to purchase the Tempur Pedic mattress, but was told that this mattress was much better. I paid over $1500 for this mattress and was given a 90-day comfort guarantee. After 3 nights of sleeping on this mattress my back was killing me. I went back to the store to complain, but was told that nothing could be done for at least 45 days. The salesman told me that my back hurt because I was not used to sleeping on memory foam. I returned to the store several times after that, but was always told to come back and after 45 days and they would exchange the mattress. When I returned to the store after the 45 days, the original salesman had been fired and I was told that there was nothing that they could do for me. I got rid of the mattress and when I took it off the bed all the insides dropped to the bottom of the mattress. The foam had just disintegrated. Now I am just out the $1559 I paid and I had to purcahse another mattress.

“Like sleeping on a cloud, but makes me sweat after so many minutes”

  • Comfort
  • Support
  • Durability
  • Value
Pros:
So comfortable when you lay down, like sleeping on a cloud.
Cons:
Makes us sweat, can't flip, too tall.

Update (8/28/11):
The box spring is nine inches tall and mattress 13 inches tall. From steel frame support on floor to top of mattress totals 28 inches. I should add that there is probably nothing wrong with a pillow top if it were cotton or poly cotton fill, but this one contains polyurethane foam which from its characteristic in this bed, acts like Memory Foam. This stuff does act like a heat sink and holds the heat.

Original Review (8/22/11):

Thanks for letting me write this review!

My husband purchased this set used from another co-worker who was moving. This fellow bought it as new and as a guest bed. The manufacture year is 2008-Batesville, MS. It had never been used. I don't know what my husband paid for it,but I think it was $300.00

It was difficult getting used to the height. The mattress itself is nearly 13 inches deep. If we get older and have physical disabilities, we won't be able to get into this bed.
It looks quality, both top and boxspring. It came with a five leg metal support frame.
Main problem is after you lay down, within about ten minutes what feels oh so comfortable starts making you warm, and then too warm and this continues until you start sweating. My husband and I are average height, and this was our first Queen set, as we have been using a Regular set for over 15 years that is still in great condition, by the way. I ended up getting up and going in the other bedroom to sleep to cool off. You would need the bed to yourself to be able to roll over to a cool spot just to cool off. It doesn't matter whether it is hot summer or cold of winter, the foam euro top ruins this bed due to this heat sink factor. So, time to find a new bed that is flippable and without any memory foam or pillow top of any sort. This one is not flippable, even though we did flip it to be able to sleep on the no-foam top side. My husband couldn't do this as it was then too hard and he ended up going int he other bed to sleep. I almost wish I new how to do upholstery as to save money, I was seriolsy thinking of how to remove the topper that is sewn on. Maybe in the future they should make these removable. Serta needs to stick to making mattresses that can be flipped as this is part of the maintenance process. My older bed is in great condition because I flip it and then turn it every two or three months as is directed on the label that came with it.

Poor Service, Poor Product

First, DON'T shop at SLEEP AMERICA. Once they have your money, its hard to get service.
The Serta mattress/box came too high and WE had to tell them about a low profile box springs. Then they forgot to schedule the switch. Then, two months later, the mattress failed with dips and one side totally collapsed. We had to wait one week for an "inspector", then we had to dog Sleep America to take action. Nothing settled yet and our backs hurt. Recommendation: don't let them take your old mattress. It may be better for the time being and at least you can get a night's rest.

This soft, cushy matress seems just right to this Goldilocks, so overall I would recommend it. With a nice plush pillowtop, it feels like falling into a cloud.
However, after reading some of the other posts, I hope this doesn't start sagging. It is already showing some indentions after only six months of use, but it is still comfortable. I will be very sad it if sags!

Absolutely horrible. Purchased be from American Mattress in Oswego, IL. Literally carrying bed to the curb on Monday AM as my new bed is being delivered by Costco, who will stand behind their product. Bed was comfotable for 3 months before deteriorating into a bed with 2 body impressions that cause aching back. American Mattress offered to credit 80% of the mattress if I bought a $3,500 tempupedic. Very poor product made by Serta, very poor support from the company who took my $2,000.

Pros:
Looks nice and slept well for about 6 months.
Cons:
After 6 months, mattress began sagging on both sides-became almost painful to sleep on. Customer Service FAILED!!

I bought this mattress is AZ at a military AAFES store. It was a great mattress and slept well for about 6 months. After than the mattress began sagging on both sides. You could feel lumps in the middle 1/3 areas. I called Serta and they requested pictures and the tag information rather quickly. After submitting the information, they sent a specialist out to my home. He took measurements and laughed saying he had never seen a mattress go THAT bad before. 3 1/2" depressions, and the mattress cover itself seemed "detacted" from the internal parts. After he left, I waited a few weeks and nothing. I called Serta customer service as well as AAFES and both seemed to be clueless that I even exsisted. I provided my case number and finally was told my case was closed as non-warrantied. I was told it was because I failed to provide enough "proof of defect". I was beside myself! I asked for a supervisor and was told then that I failed to provide pictures of my mattress and they wouldn't send a specialist out until I did. I explained they had alreay BEEN out and measured. They said there qas no record of this. I had to start ALL OVER! I went through the whole process again. Meanwhile I sold my bed and was waiting for the new bed to arrive (special order) when the specialist arrived at my house. The mattress set was on the ground while awaiting the bed. The specialist immediately told me he was voiding my warranty for this. Serta required the set to be "property supported by a railing system". I showed him the pictures of the mattress set on the bed and explained that I had JUST sold it less than a week ago. He said it didn't matter - what matterd is what HE saw. So now I am shopping for a new mattress to replace it without benefit of a warranty exchange because my mattress at off a railing for 17 days - even though I had pics of it ON the bed, and the claim was made whil eit was on the rails and the first specialist failed to file correctly. Thanks Serta!

I called RC Willey and told them about it, they sent out an inspector and they declined replacing it then 10 months later I couldn't take it any more and they sent out another investigator to evaluate the bed. Serta is giving me full credit to purchase another Serta mattress of my choice.

“Mattress sinks in center!”

Pros:
extremely comfortable for the first few months No springs Relieved back pain
Cons:
Center of mattress sinks after only a few months and leaves 3" indentation Expensive especially since it didn't hold up

I went with the latex mattress after extensive research and wanting to get away from inner spring mattress then trying it out in the store. It was great at first, meaning a few months. After that I started to notice the center of the mattress would not spring back and left a permanent indentation about 3" deep. This has become worse as time has gone by and I'm waking with awful back pain.
I contacted the company but they told me I had to contact the store! Then there is a huge charge to pick up/and deliver for repairs. This has a 30 year warranty with the first 10 years non prorated so I suppose the pick up/delivery charge is their way to make more money. This set, queen, cost $4.000.00!!
In case you're wondering, No, I'm not an extra large person that caused this mattress to sink. I'm 130 lbs and am the only one sleeping on this set. I'm livid!
I'm contacting the store this week and can't wait to see how they handle this.

“WIsh I kept my old bed!”

Pros:
Looks nice...
Cons:
Absolutely horrible back support. Was nice for a few months before springs failed to support.

I weigh 190lb, and sleep alone....within 6 months I noticed serious sagging in center of bed where the saleperson pitched about alll of the support and the double springs, blah, blah, blah. Well I will tell you it feels like they forgot to install any springs, there is absolutely no spring back whatsoever....I wake up with terrible low back pain, and my girlfriend refuses to sleep on it due to same issues. What a horrble product and waste of my hard earned money...stay away from this product.

“Doesn't hold up well.”

Pros:
1st 6 months were a pleasure! I looks very pretty (stitching, etc).
Cons:
Does not hold up well. Expect 2 1/2 years out of this mattresss at the most.

The last 2.5 years have been down hill from there!.... literally. The depressions in the bed on both my wife's side as well as mine are 2+ inches deep. We had a mattress specialist come measure and take pictures. I'm 175 lbs... an average sized person... My wife is also average sized person. The ridge running down the middle of the bed was enormous! We rotated the mattress regularly, the support structure is what Serta gave us... unforutunately, I have not had a good night sleep in years. My wife and I both seek out the living room couch rather than spend a night on a Serta Perfect Day. I would rate it a "Do Not Buy" for certain.

“I hate Serta beds!!!!”

Pros:
Less then 20 words. It will not help you if you had surgery on your back!!!
Cons:
Back pains in the morning, wheels pops off, etc. etc. etc.

I hate Serta beds!!!! My parents brought me a bed that had the Serta name brand on the label. I did not feel the pain until just a few weeks ago. Now, I wake up in pain, and the wheels that comes with the bed had came apart already. I will ask my doctor if a mattress like this is a good one this week when I go. If he tells me no, then my parents will have to spend some more money and get a Tempur-Pedic or a Sleep Number.

“"Sagging Wang"”

  • Comfort

  • Durability
  • Value
Pros:
felt wonderful in the showroom
Cons:
sags over time, comfort deteriorates as well.....feels like sleeping in a wood cradle.

My husband and I purchased this matress/boxspring set in our local serta store after carefully trying it out. It felt wonderful in the store.....firm yet conforming to your body then once you got up it went back into place.
It seemed perfect, however, after about 2 weeks one of the corners swagged so bad that you would roll off the bed. They did replace the bed with a new one and it seemed to be much better but after 7 months of this new one there is much more sagging on both sides and much more than the 1 1/2 inches they allow. This bed will not last 20 years...my husband and I wake up with horrible back pain and we paid a fortune for it. I don't have any complaints about the store we purchased this from but more think that the Serta company needs to redesign the mattress.

“Comfy and No More Back Pain”

  • Comfort

  • Durability
  • Value
Pros:
*Soft and comfortable *Back pain is going away
Cons:
*Little more then I wanted to spend, but still well worth it

I am sleeping on a more comfortable mattress then ever before and yet softer, my back pain is going away. The service was great, wasn't too happy about the 20 dollar removal fee, but beggers can't be choosers.

“Serta Sucks”

  • Comfort
  • Support
  • Durability
  • Value
Pros:
NONE. I will never purchase a Serta bed again.
Cons:
20 words is not enough to cover the disgust I feel toward this company.

This king size firm mattress lasted a year, maybe. We now have almost 2 inch indentations on both sides of the mattress. My wife weighs 120 and I weigh 195, so explain why this happened. So after five months of dealing with their idiots at customer service I am told yes your bed is defective; however, since there is a small coffee stain on the bed your warranty is void. They know the bed is defective and yet find a way out, ridiculous. I hate this company and these beds.

“Serta Not Too Bad Sleeper”

  • Comfort
  • Support
  • Durability
  • Value
Pros:
For my taste, it offers a solid balance between some firmness while still molding to the contours of your body.
Cons:
I fear that it is starting to sag a bit, which seems a bit early.

I can't say that the Perfect Sleeper quite lives up to the billing, but it is not bad, really. I have had mine for eight years now, and it still is quite a comfortable sleep, though I am starting to sense some sagging.

“Sagging Mattress”

Pros:
If you are looking for a mattress that will keep you from rolling out of bed, Serta's for you.
Cons:
Trying to meet your wife in the middle of the bed.

Bought the mattress 2 years ago. The body impression for both my wife and I are now up to ~2 inches deep.

“Serta sucks!!”

  • Comfort
  • Support
  • Durability
  • Value
Pros:
Looks good when delivered but does not hold up.
Cons:
Mattress caved in, has deep depressions. No one responds to requests for warranty service.

Have a 10 month old Serta Addison that is sagging so bad you cannot sleep on it. Have emailed Serta with no response, so assume warranty is a farce.

“Excellent bed”

  • Comfort

Pros:
Long lasting, holds firmness
Cons:
None

It's a very comfortable, firm bed. We've had it for 15 years and it is still as firm as it was then.

“I've slept on camping mattresses more comfortable”

  • Comfort
  • Support

Pros:
it was cheap
Cons:
I'm not sure the floor is less comfortable

We tried to save a few bucks by going with low-end Mancini's private label mattress for my kid. Total mistake.

“Can't complain”

  • Comfort

Pros:
Comfortable. Maintained its original level of firmness throughout many years.
Cons:
Can be noisy (springs) when tossing and turning. A bit firm, which is pro or con depending on personal preference.

Slept on this mattress for years without really thinking much about it -- which is basically all I require from a mattress.
