Update (9/5/11):
I originally posted a review on the Martinique mattress that we received in March 2011. To my suprise, the owner Randy Maddix contacted me about our dissatisfaction and said he wanted my husband and I to be as comfortable as possible. He had the Martinique custom made to our liking by having it made less firm than the original, and with no charge. I believe it was 30% softer than the original mattress we received from REM. I am happy to tell all of you that this mattress is beautiful! It is super comfortable, conforms to our bodies perfectly, and we get a good night's sleep every night. My husband's back pain has subsided, and I felt immediate relief after laying on the softer Martinique. I am very pleased! And truly, you will not find customer service like this anyhwere else. Thank you Randy for contacting me and following up multiple times to make sure we were happy with the new mattress! I will definitely purchase another mattress of this kind again!
Update (7/13/11):
Two days ago I got a surprise call from Mr. Randy Maddix, CEO of REM. To his and his company’s credit, they were willing to work with us to find a more comfortable bed. That speaks to their great customer satisfaction. We should be receiving a new mattress soon, and hopefully it will be “the one.” Thank you Mr. Maddix for taking care of your customers! That type of service would be hard to find at a local retail store.
Original Review (7/10/11):
After searching for a bed for almost two years, we thought we found the one! The one that would reliever our back pain and help us get a good night's sleep. We were wrong. Unfortunately, my husbands back pain has gotten worse since we starting sleeping on this bed and mine went from slight back pain to moderate after 3 months of sleeping on this bed. Last night was the first night my husband went to sleep in the old King bed which is now our guest bed to get a good nights sleep. That is what forced me to write this review. I wish we could write a great review. But each person is different and spending this much money on a bed feels like we wasted it all. We are now shopping for a new bed. Sorry REM.
