When you first get your bed, definitely walk on it for a few minutes for about three days. This will help break it in and also release the "gas". The first day,we made sure that we had the overhead fan going, whole house fan going (to clear out the room of any smell) and opened a window. That first night we notice a very very faint smell, but nothing that would have kept us awake. I kept the fans on for the 2nd night also, by the third night we didn't run the fans during the day. The mattress was a little firm, but I made sure I would walk on it for the next two days, which helped a lot.
By the 4th or 5th day, the mattress was completely comfortable and I was waking up in the morning with hardly any noticable back pain. My back pain was 90% better then it was sleeping on the Sleep Number bed which we had for 13 yrs. with various toppers.
Before we got this bed I actually did NOT want to go to bed because I knew I would wake up in the morning with lots of back pain and many nights not even able to get to sleep because I was so uncomfortable. Now I can't wait to climb into bed, what a change.
I received my King Size Cloud Luxe on Feb 22, 2011 and love it. OMG this is by far the most comfortable bed I have every laid on. I did notice a bit of gassing for 3-4 nights, but by night 7 it was totally gone. I was worried about the bed sleeping warm but I haven't had any issues. If you have the room go with a King, well worth it, much more spacious. I really like that you cannot feel your partner move. It did take me approximently 2 wks to get used to it, but I love it now & look forward to going to bed.
Got the bed only five days ago.Was most concerned about reported off-gassing and the mattress 'sleeping hot'.
The off-gassing was a problem requiring open windows[should have waited for warmer weather]
an official mattress cover and a cotton one on top
sorted the sleeping hot problem if there was one.
Its early days yet though
I tried everything. This bed gave me the deepest sleep I ever had. My wife is almost half my weight and likes a softer bed-I need more support. Thios bed gave us the best of both. I had a latex bed that lost its shape after a few years and caused discomfort. Although pricey, this bed is outrageus in comfort. Nothing compares or came close. Knock offs tend to not last which is similar to my latex. This is a new series and is incredible. Cardi's is a first class retailer-no games.
We ordered a Tempur-Pedic Cloud Luxe from Mattress Giant in Framingham, MA last Saturday for $4500. After ordering it we came home and did some research on it and were concerned about the reports of it sleeping hot. We called the salesman up on Sunday and discussed our concerns, but he assured us that this model didn't exhibit this problem. We had been all set to cancel the order and go with a conventional mattress, but based upon his assurance, we kept it on order.
On Tuesday it arrived and the delivery guys stated that they hated these mattresses due to the high number of returns that they get. That didn't bode well. However, we kept going and they unwrapped and installed it. I will say that there was a fair amount of out-gassing, which kept us from sleeping on it the first night, but the smell wasn't all that objectionable. It reminded me of drying latex paint.
However, after sleeping on it we both felt that it slept hot, and we keep the room quite cool....58F at night. I can't imagine what it would be like in the summer! Sue also complained that her shoulder was sore after sleeping on it. I personally slept very nicely on it.
Due to the sleeping-hot issue, we both agreed that it wasn't going to work for us and contacted Mattress Giant to exchange it. They have a 100 day exchange policy, but you're supposed to buy another mattress of equal or greater cost. Unfortunately the Cloud Luxe was the most expensive model in the store, so that wouldn't work. They tried to do an even exchange for a mattress that had a MLP of $5200, but that they had previously quoted at $3710. That didn't fly for me and they eventually agreed to refund the difference less the $175 exchange fee. I was very happy with that and they'll be exchanging the mattress on Tuesday.
While the salesman was wrong about the sleeping-hot issue, he did the right thing regarding the swap and I can highly recommend Rick at Mattress Giant in Framingham, MA.
