Most importantly, your questions should be focused on purchasing a mattress, so that other visitors will find the answers useful in their search for a bed. Before you ask your question, please make sure to search for a similar question – with the forum search feature, you can search questions by their title or tags. This will save you time and keep the forum as useful as possible for everyone. In addition, questions should be specific, answerable and focused. Open-ended questions or poll-like questions are not useful to our visitors. If you’re looking for mattress reviews, we encourage you to check out our mattress reviews and store reviews.
Here are some types of questions that don’t pass our relevant, specific and answerable test:
The short answer is: You, with a little help from the GoodBed moderators... The Q&A forum is largely moderated by our users, as our karma system allows users to earn rights to perform a variety of moderation tasks.
The GoodBed moderator uses the same criteria that you should use when choosing to vote a question up or down. Here is a quick run-down:
When a question or answer is upvoted, the user who posted it will gain some points, which are called "karma points". These points serve as a rough measure of the trust they have earned from the GoodBed community. Various moderation tasks are gradually assigned to the users based on these points. For example, if you ask an interesting question or give a helpful answer, your input will be upvoted. On the other hand, if the answer is misleading, it will be downvoted. Each vote in favor will generate 15 points, each vote against will subtract 1 point. There is a limit of 200 points that can be accumulated per question or answer.
The table below explains karma requirements for each type of moderation task.
It’s simple! You can start a question anonymously, but for quality purposes, you will need to register with GoodBed for your question to be posted. Absolutely! As the makers and sellers of mattresses, industry participants typically have the most expertise to contribute. By sharing this expertise in the forum in a helpful way, a salesperson, store owner or manufacturer representative can establish credibility and awareness amongst consumers. Industry representatives are simply asked to abide by some additional guidelines for answering questions.
For profile pictures of our users, we use the Gravatar service (which stands for "globally recognized avatar" and is affiliated with WordPress). If you already have a Gravatar account, just use the same email address in your GoodBed account as you use for Gravatar – we will then display your profile picture automatically. By default, gravatar appears as a square filled with a snowflake-like figure. If you do not already have a Gravatar account, it only takes a couple minutes to set it up by clicking here.
